Massage Time! (Thailand Travel Diary #4)

Thailand Massage

I felt SO much better after a long sleep. Was out cold in record time and up with the morning birds. There really wasn’t much to do along the little Bangkok back-alley where I was staying for 1 night, but I did want that massage.

They were closed. I enjoyed the aircon back in my room for an hour then headed back. Still closed, but I had time to kill so just watched the locals go about their business. Then the doors behind me opened and a lady in red began planting incense. “Are you open?” I asked hopefully. “You want massage?” she said. “Yes, yes, come, come”. I told her it was my first time getting a Thai massage. “You want oil massage! Upstair.” (She didn’t speak much English).

There were two dark rooms upstairs. Oh dear… She also asked me to take a shower! So after my second shower of the day and just a small towel to defend myself with, I lay down and it began. Her English name was “Lemon”. The massage was great! Front and back. But what now..?

She tapped my curious middle-leg and whispered with a cheeky smile, “oil massage…”? I was curious to know how much they make from this. “400 hunded for shop and 500 hunded for me”. Not a bad side-hustle!

I politely declined, feeling relaxed in some areas and less massaged in others.
