I got a front row seat to see a water puppet show. This is performed by highly skilled puppeteers who can breathe underwater. This is accompanied by 8 musicians playing traditional instruments.
The story went something like this:
Fishing and boating in olden times was tough. There was one particular fish that was hard to catch. A determined fisherman came close to catching him, but got knocked off his boat and disappeared into the depths… Then a giant squirrel caught the prized fish and climbed up a tree.
It was announced that the emperor was coming. He did a slow parade around the waterpark with all his servants in tow. Suddenly they were on the ocean and an evil turtle emerged from the mist and stole his sword! The next day, two dragon puppies chased a beach ball.
The legend goes that two colourful peacock-chickens did a flirty dance and laid an egg which instantly hatched. The story ends with a showdown between good and evil, with the young peacock-chicken defeating the evil turtle. To this day, no one knows what happened to the emperor’s sword.
The 10 puppeteers came out from backstage at the end. They were 9 women and 1 elderly man.
(They weren’t really under the water). Lol.
